The verdict

Studio Blooms is the most deliberately narrow business in this guide, and the narrowness is a genuine argument in its favour. Kelly, its principal florist, trained at Rodbaston Horticultural College in Staffordshire and has built the studio around two things: funeral tributes and wedding flowers. Not gifting, not subscriptions, not corporate reception displays. Two occasions, both of them the sort where the flowers matter disproportionately and where getting them wrong is remembered for years. That focus is rarer than it sounds. Almost every other shop on this list sells balloons and soft toys alongside the stems, because that is how a shop with rent stays solvent. A studio with no shopfront does not have to, and Studio Blooms has used the freedom to specialise rather than to broaden.
