Winspers has been selling flowers in Birmingham since 1970, and it started on a circular stall at the top of the escalators in the old Bull Ring shopping centre. That building was demolished in 2000. The stall became a shop in Moseley, the shop moved to Kings Heath High Street, and the business is still trading. Fifty-six years and three locations is the longest continuous floristry career on this list, and it is why this entry scores a ten for local roots without argument. Longevity of that kind is not sentimentality, it is evidence. The two Kings Heath shops divide neatly. Winspers has the history, the bespoke work and the corporate contracts; Whoops A Daisy has the network accreditation and the easier remote ordering. For anything that matters, walk into Winspers. Further out, hedge in Stirchley is the only other shop in this part of the city with a genuine point of view, though it opens four days a week to Winspers' six.
Getting there
Kings Heath High Street, a short walk from the reopened Kings Heath station and on the frequent 50 bus route down the Alcester Road. High street parking is limited and time-restricted; the train is genuinely the better option now.
