The verdict

The Greenery has the best setting of any florist in Birmingham, and I am not sure the shop entirely knows what to do with it. It trades from The Green at Kings Norton, which is a genuine surviving village green with St Nicolas' Church on one side and the Saracen's Head, a fifteenth-century merchant's house, on the other. There is nowhere else in this guide where you can buy flowers next to a medieval building. As a florist it is a straightforward, decent neighbourhood shop: the usual occasions, local delivery across Kings Norton and the southern suburbs, sensible prices for the area. Nothing about the published work is distinctive and nothing about it is poor. It serves an affluent-adjacent south Birmingham catchment that has money but does not particularly want to be sold a point of view. What holds it back is the publishing. There is very little information available: no clear prices, no stated hours on the front of the site, no founding date, no delivery cut-off. hedge in Stirchley is two miles north and is what a small south Birmingham shop looks like when it takes its own setting seriously. The Greenery has the better location and does considerably less with it.

Getting there

The Green, Kings Norton, five minutes from Kings Norton station on the Cross City line. There is parking around the green and the 45 and 46 bus routes serve it. Combine it with the Saracen's Head and the church if you are making the trip.
